The Ilford Advocate was produced by Kenendy Instruments with production starting 1947. It is credited as being the first British-produced 35mm 'miniature format' photographic camera. The Advocate was updated to version II in 1952.

This example is a first-run model, with the chromed pressure plate, & Dallmeyer Anastigmat 35mm f/4.5 lens. Unlike other examples, this camera has had the lens removed, & remounted into a non-rangefinder coupled L39 mount. This lens has been tested using an L39 camera, & the lens is able to focus to infinity. The lens focus markings appear to be accurate.

The camera still works mechanically but can not be used to make images unless the lens is re-installed. The camera is cosmetically Very Good. The lens is both mechanically & optically Excellent
